So the king didn't listen to the people; for it was a thing brought about of the LORD, that he might establish his word, which the LORD spoke by Achiyah the Shiloni to Yarov`am the son of Nevat.


Thus says the LORD, You shall not go up, nor fight against your brothers the children of Yisra'el: return every man to his house; for this thing is of me. So they listened to the word of the LORD, and returned and went their way, according to the word of the LORD.


and Yehu the son of Nimshi shall you anoint to be king over Yisra'el; and Elisha the son of Shafat of Avel-Mecholah shall you anoint to be prophet in your room.


The LORD said, 'Who shall entice Ach'av, that he may go up and fall at Ramot Gil`ad?' One said on this manner; and another said on that manner.


So Yehu struck all that remained of the house of Ach'av in Yizre`el, and all his great men, and his familiar friends, and his Kohanim, until he left him none remaining.


Yoram said, Make ready. They made ready his chariot. Yoram king of Yisra'el and Achazyah king of Yehudah went out, each in his chariot, and they went out to meet Yehu, and found him in the portion of Navot the Yizre`eli.


But when Achazyah the king of Yehudah saw this, he fled by the way of the garden house. Yehu followed after him, and said, Smite him also in the chariot: [and they struck him] at the ascent of Gur, which is by Yivle`am. He fled to Megiddo, and died there.


So the king didn't listen to the people; for it was brought about of God, that the LORD might establish his word, which he spoke by Achiyah the Shiloni to Yarov`am the son of Nevat.


He returned to be healed in Yizre`el of the wounds which they had given him at Ramah, when he fought against Chaza'el king of Syria. `Azaryah the son of Yehoram king of Yehudah went down to see Yehoram the son of Ach'av in Yizre`el, because he was sick.


The LORD has made himself known. He has executed judgment. The wicked is snared by the work of his own hands. Meditation. Selah.


A man's heart plans his course, but the LORD directs his steps.


declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times things that are not [yet] done; saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure;


Who is wise, that he may understand these things? Who is prudent, that he may know them? For the ways of the LORD are right, and the righteous walk in them; But the rebellious stumble in them.


You shall tread down the wicked; for they will be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I make,* says the LORD of Armies.


Vengeance is mine, and recompense, at the time when their foot slides; for the day of their calamity is at hand. The things that are to come on them shall make haste.


For it was of the LORD to harden their hearts, to come against Yisra'el in battle, that he might utterly destroy them, that they might have no favor, but that he might destroy them, as the LORD commanded Moshe.


But his father and his mother didn't know that it was of the LORD; for he sought an occasion against the Pelishtim. Now at that time the Pelishtim had rule over Yisra'el.
