The children struggled together within her. She said, *If it be so, why do I live?* She went to inquire of the LORD.


When David rose up in the morning, the word of the LORD came to the prophet Gad, David's seer, saying,


Yet the LORD testified to Yisra'el, and to Yehudah, by every prophet, and every seer, saying, Turn you from your evil ways, and keep my mitzvot and my statutes, according to all the law which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you by my servants the prophets.


The LORD spoke to Gad, David's seer, saying,


All that Shemu'el the seer, and Sha'ul the son of Kish, and Aviner the son of Ner, and Yo'av the son of Tzeru'yah, had dedicated, whoever had dedicated anything, it was under the hand of Shelomit, and of his brothers.


Now the acts of David the king, first and last, behold, they are written in the history of Shemu'el the seer, and in the history of Natan the prophet, and in the history of Gad the seer,


All these who were chosen to be porters in the thresholds were two hundred and twelve. These were reckoned by genealogy in their villages, whom David and Shemu'el the seer did ordain in their office of trust.

who tell the seers, *Don't see!* and to the prophets, *Don't prophesy to us right things. Tell us pleasant things. Prophesy deceits.


Amatzyah also said to `Amos, *You seer, go, flee away into the land of Yehudah, and there eat bread, and prophesy there:


If the whole body were an eye, where would the hearing be? If the whole were hearing, where would the smelling be?


It happened after the death of Yehoshua, the children of Yisra'el asked of the LORD, saying, Who shall go up for us first against the Kena`anim, to fight against them?


They said to him, Ask counsel, we pray you, of God, that we may know whether our way which we go shall be prosperous.


Then said Sha'ul to his servant, Well said; come, let us go. So they went to the city where the man of God was.
