So Yo'av arose and went to Geshur, and brought Avshalom to Yerushalayim.


Avshalom answered Yo'av, Behold, I sent to you, saying, Come here, that I may send you to the king, to say, Why am I come from Geshur? it were better for me to be there still. Now therefore let me see the king's face; and if there be iniquity in me, let him kill me.


For your servant vowed a vow while I abode at Geshur in Syria, saying, If the LORD shall indeed bring me again to Yerushalayim, then I will serve the LORD.


Behold, the servants of David and Yo'av came from a foray, and brought in a great spoil with them: but Aviner was not with David in Chevron; for he had sent him away, and he was gone in shalom.


and his second, Chileab, of Avigayil the wife of Naval the Karmelite; and the third, Avshalom the son of Ma`akhah the daughter of Talmai king of Geshur;


of Syria, and of Mo'av, and of the children of `Ammon, and of the Pelishtim, and of `Amalek, and of the spoil of Hadad`ezer, son of Rechov, king of Tzovah.


Geshur and Aram took the towns of Ya'ir from them, with Kenat, and the villages of it, even sixty cities. All these were the sons of Makhir the father of Gil`ad.


Moshe led Yisra'el onward from the Sea of Suf, and they went out into the wilderness of Shur; and they went three days in the wilderness, and found no water.


Then `Amalek came and fought with Yisra'el in Refidim.


`Amalek dwells in the land of the South: and the Chittite, and the Yevusi, and the Amori, dwell in the hill country; and the Kena`ani dwells by the sea, and along by the side of the Yarden.


Then the `Amaleki came down, and the Kena`ani who lived in that mountain, and struck them and beat them down, even to Chormah.


and ruled in Mount Chermon, and in Salkhah, and in all Bashan, to the border of the Geshuri and the Ma`akhati, and half Gil`ad, the border of Sichon king of Cheshbon.


Nevertheless the children of Yisra'el didn't drive out the Geshuri, nor the Ma`akhati: but Geshur and Ma`akhat dwell in the midst of Yisra'el to this day.


This is the land that yet remains: all the regions of the Pelishtim, and all the Geshuri;


They didn't drive out the Kena`anim who lived in Gezer: but the Kena`anim dwell in the midst of Efrayim to this day, and are become servants to do forced labor.


Efrayim didn't drive out the Kena`anim who lived in Gezer; but the Kena`anim lived in Gezer among them.


Then Akhish called David, and said to him, As the LORD lives, you have been upright, and your going out and your coming in with me in the army is good in my sight; for I have not found evil in you since the day of your coming to me to this day: nevertheless the lords don't favor you.


It happened, when David and his men were come to Tziklag on the third day, that the `Amaleki had made a raid on the South, and on Tziklag, and had struck Tziklag, and burned it with fire,
