To Avyatar the Kohen said the king, Get you to `Anatot, to your own fields; for you are worthy of death: but I will not at this time put you to death, because you bear the ark of the Lord GOD before David my father, and because you were afflicted in all in which my father was afflicted.


Call to me, and I will answer you, and will show you great things, and difficult, which you don't know.


For the children of Yisra'el shall abide many days without king, and without prince, and without sacrifice, and without sacred stone, and without efod or idols.


He shall stand before El`azar the Kohen, who shall inquire for him by the judgment of the Urim before the LORD: at his word shall they go out, and at his word they shall come in, both he, and all the children of Yisra'el with him, even all the congregation.


they became aware of it, and fled to the cities of Lycaonia, Lystra, Derbe, and the surrounding region.


but their plot became known to Sha'ul. They watched the gates both day and night that they might kill him,


Therefore they asked of the LORD further, Is there yet a man to come here? the LORD answered, Behold, he has hid himself among the baggage.


Sha'ul said to Achiyah, Bring here the ark of God. For the ark of God was [there] at that time with the children of Yisra'el.


One of the sons of Achimelekh, the son of Achituv, named Avyatar, escaped, and fled after David.


Then said David, O LORD, the God of Yisra'el, your servant has surely heard that Sha'ul seeks to come to Ke`ilah, to destroy the city for my sake.


It happened, when Avyatar the son of Achimelekh fled to David to Ke`ilah, that he came down with an efod in his hand.


Sha'ul summoned all the people to war, to go down to Ke`ilah, to besiege David and his men.


David said to Avyatar the Kohen, the son of Achimelekh, Please bring me here the efod. Avyatar brought there the efod to David.
