Don't tell it in Gat. Don't publish it in the streets of Ashkelon, lest the daughters of the Pelishtim rejoice, lest the daughters of the uncircumcised triumph.


David and all the house of Yisra'el played before the LORD with all manner of [instruments made of] fir wood, and with harps, and with psalteries, and with timbrels, and with castanets, and with cymbals.


Let them praise his name in the dance! Let them sing praises to him with tambourine and harp!


The Lord announced the word. The ones who proclaim it are a great company.


The singers went before, the minstrels followed after, in the midst of the ladies playing with timbrels,


Miryam the prophetess, the sister of Aharon, took a tambourine in her hand; and all the women went out after her with timbrels and with dances.


Miryam answered them, *Sing to the LORD, for he has triumphed gloriously. The horse and his rider he has thrown into the sea.*


Every stroke of the rod of punishment, which the LORD will lay on him, will be with the sound of timbrels and harps. He will fight with them in battles, brandishing weapons.


Yiftach came to Mitzpah to his house; and behold, his daughter came out to meet him with timbrels and with dances: and she was his only child; besides her he had neither son nor daughter.


David went out wherever Sha'ul sent him, [and] behaved himself wisely: and Sha'ul set him over the men of war, and it was good in the sight of all the people, and also in the sight of Sha'ul's servants.
