But Amnon had a friend, whose name was Yehonadav, the son of Shim`a, David's brother; and Yehonadav was a very subtle man.


Yehonadav, the son of Shim`a, David's brother, answered, Don't let my lord suppose that they have killed all the young men the king's sons; for Amnon only is dead; for by the appointment of Avshalom this has been determined from the day that he forced his sister Tamar.


When he defied Yisra'el, Yonatan the son of Shim`i, David's brother, killed him.


and Yishai became the father of his firstborn Eli'av, and Avinadav the second, and Shim`a the third,


Eli'av his eldest brother heard when he spoke to the men; and Eli'av's anger was kindled against David, and he said, Why are you come down? and with whom have you left those few sheep in the wilderness? I know your pride, and the naughtiness of your heart; for you have come down that you might see the battle.
