and Yishai became the father of his firstborn Eli'av, and Avinadav the second, and Shim`a the third,


of Yehudah, Elihu, one of the brothers of David: of Yissakhar, `Omri 1 the son of Mikha'el:


However the LORD, the God of Yisra'el, chose me out of all the house of my father to be king over Yisra'el forever: for he has chosen Yehudah to be prince; and in the house of Yehudah, the house of my father; and among the sons of my father he took pleasure in me to make me king over all Yisra'el;


Rechav`am took him a wife, Machalat the daughter of Yerimot the son of David, [and of] Avichayil the daughter of Eli'av the son of Yishai;


Behold, God our shield, look at the face of your anointed.


Then said he to Zevach and Tzalmunnah, What manner of men were they whom you killed at Tavor? They answered, As you are, so were they; each one resembled the children of a king.


The three eldest sons of Yishai had gone after Sha'ul to the battle: and the names of his three sons who went to the battle were Eli'av the firstborn, and next to him Avinadav, and the third Shammah.


David left his baggage in the hand of the keeper of the baggage, and ran to the army, and came and greeted his brothers.
