Their father, Yisra'el, said to them, *If it must be so, then do this. Take from the choice fruits of the land in your bags, and carry down a present for the man, a little balm, a little honey, spices and myrrh, nuts, and almonds;


A man's gift makes room for him, and brings him before great men.


But certain worthless fellows said, How shall this man save us? They despised him, and brought him no present. But he held his shalom.


and they will greet you, and give you two loaves of bread, which you shall receive of their hand.


Therefore Sha'ul sent messengers to Yishai, and said, Send me David your son, who is with the sheep.


and bring these ten cheeses to the captain of their thousand, and look how your brothers fare, and take their pledge.


Then Avigayil made haste, and took two hundred loaves, and two bottles of wine, and five sheep ready dressed, and five measures of parched grain, and one hundred clusters of raisins, and two hundred cakes of figs, and laid them on donkeys.
