that I will bless you greatly, and I will multiply your seed greatly like the stars of the heavens, and like the sand which is on the seashore. Your seed will possess the gate of his enemies.


But I counsel that all Yisra'el be gathered together to you, from Dan even to Be'er-Sheva, as the sand that is by the sea for multitude; and that you go to battle in your own person.


The children of Yisra'el were mustered, and were provisioned, and went against them: and the children of Yisra'el encamped before them like two little flocks of kids; but the Syrians filled the country.


Now, LORD God, let your promise to David my father be established; for you have made me king over a people like the dust of the earth in multitude.


He has come to `Ayat. He has passed through Migron. At Mikhmash he stores his baggage.


your seed also had been as the sand, and the offspring of your body like the grains of it: his name would not be cut off nor destroyed from before me.


Their widows are increased to me above the sand of the seas; I have brought on them against the mother of the young men a destroyer at noonday: I have caused anguish and terrors to fall on her suddenly.


The inhabitants of Shomron will be in terror for the calves of Beit-Aven; for its people will mourn over it, Along with its Kohanim who rejoiced over it, for its glory, because it has departed from it.


*Though you, Yisra'el, play the prostitute, yet don't let Yehudah offend; and don't come to Gilgal, neither go up to Beit-Aven, nor swear, 'As the LORD lives.'


*Blow the cornet in Gevah, and the shofar in Ramah! Sound a battle cry at Beit-Aven, behind you, Binyamin!


Yeshaiyahu cries concerning Yisra'el, *If the number of the children of Yisra'el are as the sand of the sea, it is the remnant who will be saved;


They went out, they and all their armies with them, much people, even as the sand that is on the seashore in multitude, with horses and chariots very many.


Their border on the north quarter was from the Yarden; and the border went up to the side of Yericho on the north, and went up through the hill country westward; and the goings out of it were at the wilderness of Beit-Aven.


Yehoshua sent men from Yericho to `Ai, which is beside Beit-Aven, on the east side of Beit-El, and spoke to them, saying, Go up and spy out the land. The men went up and spied out `Ai.


The Midyanim and the `Amaleki and all the children of the east lay along in the valley like locusts for multitude; and their camels were without number, as the sand which is on the seashore for multitude.


Shemu'el said, What have you done? Sha'ul said, Because I saw that the people were scattered from me, and that you didn't come within the days appointed, and that the Pelishtim assembled themselves together at Mikhmash;


Sha'ul chose him three thousand men of Yisra'el, of which two thousand were with Sha'ul in Mikhmash and in the Mount of Beit-El, and one thousand were with Yonatan in Gevah of Binyamin: and the rest of the people he sent every man to his tent.


So the LORD saved Yisra'el that day: and the battle passed over by Beit-Aven.


There was sore war against the Pelishtim all the days of Sha'ul: and when Sha'ul saw any mighty man, or any valiant man, he took him to him.


Now the Pelishtim gathered together their armies to battle; and they were gathered together at Sokho, which belongs to Yehudah, and encamped between Sokho and `Azeka, in Efes-Dammim.


So the Pelishtim were subdued, and they came no more within the border of Yisra'el: and the hand of the LORD was against the Pelishtim all the days of Shemu'el.
