There happened to be there a base fellow, whose name was Sheva, the son of Bikhri, a Binyamini: and he blew the shofar, and said, We have no portion in David, neither have we inheritance in the son of Yishai: every man to his tents, Yisra'el.


He struck Mo'av, and measured them with the line, making them to lie down on the ground; and he measured two lines to put to death, and one full line to keep alive. The Mo`avim became servants to David, and brought tribute.


They brought every man his tribute, vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and clothing, and armor, and spices, horses, and mules, a rate year by year.


Shlomo ruled over all the kingdoms from the River to the land of the Pelishtim, and to the border of Egypt: they brought tribute, and served Shlomo all the days of his life.


Chiram king of Tzor sent his servants to Shlomo; for he had heard that they had anointed him king in the room of his father: for Chiram was ever a lover of David.


There were gathered to him worthless men, base fellows, who strengthened themselves against Rechav`am the son of Shlomo, when Rechav`am was young and tender-hearted, and could not withstand them.


Therefore the LORD established the kingdom in his hand; and all Yehudah brought to Yehoshafat tribute; and he had riches and honor in abundance.


But I, as a deaf man, don't hear. I am as a mute man who doesn't open his mouth.


The kings of Tarshish and of the islands will bring tribute. The kings of Sheva and Seva shall offer gifts.


Also don't take heed to all words that are spoken, lest you hear your servant curse you;


But they remained silent, and said nothing in reply, for the king's mitzvah was, *Don't answer him.*


They came into the house and saw the young child with Miriam, his mother, and they fell down and worshiped him. Opening their treasures, they offered to him gifts: gold, frankincense, and myrrh.


*This Moshe, whom they refused, saying, 'Who made you a ruler and a judge?'--God has sent him as both a ruler and a deliverer by the hand of the angel who appeared to him in the bush.


Certain base fellows are gone out from the midst of you, and have drawn away the inhabitants of their city, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which you have not known;


The people said to Shemu'el, Who is he who said, Shall Sha'ul reign over us? bring the men, that we may put them to death.


Sha'ul said, There shall not a man be put to death this day; for today the LORD has worked deliverance in Yisra'el.


Yishai took a donkey loaded with bread, and a bottle of wine, and a kid, and sent them by David his son to Sha'ul.


Now the sons of `Eli were base men; they didn't know the LORD.


Now therefore know and consider what you will do; for evil is determined against our master, and against all his house: for he is such a worthless fellow that one can't speak to him.
