King Shlomo raised a levy out of all Yisra'el; and the levy was thirty thousand men.


This is the reason of the levy which king Shlomo raised, to build the house of the LORD, and his own house, and Millo, and the wall of Yerushalayim, and Chatzor, and Megiddo, and Gezer.


As for all the people who were left of the Amori, the Chitti, the Perizzi, the Chivvi, and the Yevusi, who were not of the children of Yisra'el;


David commanded to gather together the foreigners who were in Eretz-Yisra'el; and he set masons to hew worked stones to build the house of God.

Now these are the chiefs of the province who lived in Yerushalayim: but in the cities of Yehudah lived everyone in his possession in their cities, [to wit], Yisra'el, the Kohanim, and the Levites, and the temple servants 1, and the children of Shlomo's servants.

They didn't drive out the Kena`anim who lived in Gezer: but the Kena`anim dwell in the midst of Efrayim to this day, and are become servants to do forced labor.


Yet the children of Menasheh couldn't drive out [the inhabitants of] those cities; but the Kena`anim would dwell in that land.


It happened, when the children of Yisra'el had grown strong, that they put the Kena`anim to forced labor, and didn't utterly drive them out.


The children of Binyamin did not drive out the Yevusi who inhabited Yerushalayim; but the Yevusi dwell with the children of Binyamin in Yerushalayim to this day.


The border of the Amori was from the ascent of `Akrabbim, from the rock, and upward.


The anger of the LORD was kindled against Yisra'el; and he said, Because this nation have transgressed my covenant which I commanded their fathers, and have not listened to my voice;


Now these are the nations which the LORD left, to prove Yisra'el by them, even as many [of Yisra'el] as had not known all the wars of Kena`an;
