But Yehoshafat said, Isn't there here a prophet of the LORD besides, that we may inquire of him?


Then the king of Yisra'el called an officer, and said, Get quickly Mikhayahu the son of Yimlah.


It happened, when Yoram saw Yehu, that he said, Is it shalom, Yehu? He answered, What shalom, so long as the prostitution of your mother Izevel and her witchcraft abound?


but they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and scoffed at his prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against his people, until there was no remedy.


Evil shall kill the wicked. Those who hate the righteous shall be condemned.


A scoffer doesn't love to be reproved; he will not go to the wise.


The bloodthirsty hate a man of integrity; and they seek the life of the upright.


Don't reprove a scoffer, lest he hate you. Reprove a wise man, and he will love you.


Woe to the wicked! Disaster is upon them; for the deeds of his hands will be paid back to him.


who tell the seers, *Don't see!* and to the prophets, *Don't prophesy to us right things. Tell us pleasant things. Prophesy deceits.


Thus says the LORD, the Redeemer of Yisra'el, [and] his Holy One, to him whom man despises, to him whom the nation abhors, to a servant of rulers: Kings shall see and arise; princes, and they shall worship; because of the LORD who is faithful, [even] the Holy One of Yisra'el, who has chosen you.


Then said they, Come, and let us devise devices against Yirmeyahu; for the law shall not perish from the Kohen, nor counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophet. Come, and let us strike him with the tongue, and let us not give heed to any of his words.


For I have heard the defaming of many, terror on every side. Denounce, and we will denounce him, [say] all my familiar friends, those who watch for my fall; peradventure he will be persuaded, and we shall prevail against him, and we shall take our revenge on him.


It happened, when Yehudi had read three or four leaves, that [the king] cut it with the penknife, and cast it into the fire that was in the brazier, until all the scroll was consumed in the fire that was in the brazier.


Then the princes said to the king, Let this man, we pray you, be put to death; because he weakens the hands of the men of war who remain in this city, and the hands of all the people, in speaking such words to them: for this man doesn't seek the welfare of this people, but the hurt.


They hate him who reproves in the gate, and they abhor him who speaks blamelessly.


If a man walking in a spirit of falsehood lies: *I will prophesy to you of wine and of strong drink;* he would be the prophet of this people.


Shall it be said, O house of Ya`akov: *Is the Spirit of the LORD angry? Are these his doings? Don't my words do good to him who walks blamelessly?*


I cut off the three shepherds in one month; for my soul was weary of them, and their soul also loathed me.


You will be hated by all men for my name's sake, but he who endures to the end will be saved.


I have given them your word. The world hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.


The world can't hate you, but it hates me, because I testify about it, that its works are evil.


So then, have I become your enemy by telling you the truth?
