When the mourning was past, David sent and took her home to his house, and she became his wife, and bore him a son. But the thing that David had done displeased the LORD.


Ach'av the son of `Omri 1 did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD above all that were before him.


It happened, when Ach'av saw Eliyahu, that Ach'av said to him, Is it you, you troubler of Yisra'el?


(But there was none like Ach'av, who did sell himself to do that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, whom Izevel his wife stirred up.


The king of Yisra'el said to Yehoshafat, there is yet one man by whom we may inquire of the LORD, Mikhayahu the son of Yimlah: but I hate him; for he does not prophesy good concerning me, but evil. Yehoshafat said, *Don't let the king say so.*


They caused their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire, and used divination and enchantments, and sold themselves to do that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger.


He did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, after the abominations of the nations whom the LORD cast out before the children of Yisra'el.


The king of Yisra'el said to Yehoshafat, Didn't I tell you that he would not prophesy good concerning me, but evil?


The king of Yisra'el said to Yehoshafat, There is yet one man by whom we may inquire of the LORD: but I hate him; for he never prophesies good concerning me, but always evil: the same is Mikhayahu the son of Imla. Yehoshafat said, Don't let the king say so.


He also made his children to pass through the fire in the valley of the son of Hinnom; and he practiced sorcery, and used enchantments, and practiced sorcery, and dealt with those who had familiar spirits, and with wizards: he worked much evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger.


Thus says the LORD, Where is the bill of your mother's divorce, with which I have put her away? or which of my creditors is it to whom I have sold you? Behold, for your iniquities were you sold, and for your transgressions was your mother put away.


For thus says the LORD, You were sold for nothing; and you shall be redeemed without money.


Then the princes said to the king, Let this man, we pray you, be put to death; because he weakens the hands of the men of war who remain in this city, and the hands of all the people, in speaking such words to them: for this man doesn't seek the welfare of this people, but the hurt.


Therefore speak to them, and tell them, Thus says the Lord GOD: Every man of the house of Yisra'el who takes his idols into his heart, and puts the stumbling block of his iniquity before his face, and comes to the prophet; I the LORD will answer him therein according to the multitude of his idols;


They hate him who reproves in the gate, and they abhor him who speaks blamelessly.


They tried to seize him, but they feared the multitude; for they perceived that he spoke the parable against them. They left him, and went away.


For we know that the law is spiritual, but I am fleshly, sold under sin.


So then, have I become your enemy by telling you the truth?


who having become callous gave themselves up to lust, to work all uncleanness with greediness.


Those who dwell on the earth rejoice over them, and they will be glad. They will give gifts to one another, because these two prophets tormented those who dwell on the earth.
