There happened to be there a base fellow, whose name was Sheva, the son of Bikhri, a Binyamini: and he blew the shofar, and said, We have no portion in David, neither have we inheritance in the son of Yishai: every man to his tents, Yisra'el.


The men of his city, even the elders and the nobles who lived in his city, did as Izevel had sent to them, according as it was written in the letters which she had sent to them.


She wrote in the letters, saying, Proclaim a fast, and set Navot on high among the people:


But Elisha was sitting in his house, and the elders were sitting with him; and [the king] sent a man from before him: but before the messenger came to him, he said to the elders, See you how this son of a murderer has sent to take away my head? behold, when the messenger comes, shut the door, and hold the door fast against him: isn't the sound of his master's feet behind him?


It was so, when the days of their feasting had run their course, that Iyov sent and sanctified them, and rose up early in the morning, and offered burnt offerings according to the number of them all. For Iyov said, *It may be that my sons have sinned, and renounced God in their hearts.* Thus did Iyov continually.


*You shall not blaspheme God, nor curse a ruler of your people.

Justice is turned away backward, and righteousness stands afar off; for truth is fallen in the street, and uprightness can't enter.


*Bring out of the camp him who cursed; and let all who heard him lay their hands on his head, and let all the congregation stone him.


The Judeans answered him, *We don't stone you for a good work, but for blasphemy: because you, being a man, make yourself God.*


Then they secretly induced men to say, *We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moshe and God.*


and set up false witnesses who said, *This man never stops speaking blasphemous words against this holy place and the Torah.


Certain base fellows are gone out from the midst of you, and have drawn away the inhabitants of their city, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which you have not known;


One witness shall not rise up against a man for any iniquity, or for any sin, in any sin that he sins: at the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth of three witnesses, shall a matter be established.


As they were making their hearts merry, behold, the men of the city, certain base fellows, beset the house round about, beating at the door; and they spoke to the master of the house, the old man, saying, Bring forth the man who came into your house, that we may know him.


Now the sons of `Eli were base men; they didn't know the LORD.
