Then Asa took all the silver and the gold that were left in the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king's house, and delivered them into the hand of his servants; and king Asa sent them to Ben-Hadad, the son of Tavrimon, the son of Chezyon, king of Syria, who lived at Damascus, saying,


Ben-Hadad listened to king Asa, and sent the captains of his armies against the cities of Yisra'el, and struck `Iyon, and Dan, and Avel-Beit-Ma`akhah, and all Kinnarot, with all the land of Naftali.


He bought the hill Shomron of Shemer for two talents of silver; and he built on the hill, and called the name of the city which he built, after the name of Shemer, the owner of the hill, Shomron.


They went out at noon. But Ben-Hadad was drinking himself drunk in the pavilions, he and the kings, the thirty-two kings who helped him.


He sent messengers to Ach'av king of Yisra'el, into the city, and said to him, Thus says Ben-Hadad,


Do this thing: take the kings away, every man out of his place, and put captains in their room;


Now the king of Syria had commanded the thirty-two captains of his chariots, saying, Fight neither with small nor great, save only with the king of Yisra'el.


Now the king of Syria was warring against Yisra'el; and he took counsel with his servants, saying, In such and such a place shall be my camp.


It happened, as he was telling the king how he had restored to life him who was dead, that behold, the woman, whose son he had restored to life, cried to the king for her house and for her land. Gechazi said, My lord, O king, this is the woman, and this is her son, whom Elisha restored to life.

and he took six hundred chosen chariots, and all the chariots of Egypt, and captains over all of them.


For he says, *Aren't all of my princes kings?


By your servants, have you defied the Lord, and have said, *With the multitude of my chariots I have come up to the height of the mountains, to the innermost parts of Levanon. For thus says the Lord GOD: Behold, I will bring on Tzor Nevukhadnetzar 1 king of Bavel, king of kings, from the north, with horses, and with chariots, and with horsemen, and a company, and much people.


You, O king, are king of kings, to whom the God of heaven has given the kingdom, the power, and the strength, and the glory;


I will bring a sword upon you, that will execute the vengeance of the covenant; and you will be gathered together within your cities: and I will send the pestilence among you; and you will be delivered into the hand of the enemy.


but I will send a fire into the house of Chaza'el, and it will devour the palaces of Ben-Hadad.


When you go forth to battle against your enemies, and see horses, and chariots, [and] a people more than you, you shall not be afraid of them; for the LORD your God is with you, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt.


They shall besiege you in all your gates, until your high and fortified walls come down, in which you trusted, throughout all your land; and they shall besiege you in all your gates throughout all your land, which the LORD your God has given you.


Adoni-Bezek said, *Seventy kings, having their thumbs and their great toes cut off, gathered [their food] under my table: as I have done, so God has requited me.* They brought him to Yerushalayim, and he died there.


The children of Yisra'el cried to the LORD: for he had nine hundred chariots of iron; and twenty years he mightily oppressed the children of Yisra'el.


The Pelishtim assembled themselves together to fight with Yisra'el, thirty thousand chariots, and six thousand horsemen, and people as the sand which is on the seashore in multitude: and they came up, and encamped in Mikhmash, eastward of Beit-Aven.
