David's anger was greatly kindled against the man, and he said to Natan, *As the LORD lives, the man who has done this is worthy to die!


For he is gone down this day, and has slain oxen and fatlings and sheep in abundance, and has called all the king's sons, and the captains of the army, and Avyatar the Kohen; and behold, they are eating and drinking before him, and say, [Long] live king Adoniyahu.


He conferred with Yo'av the son of Tzeru'yah, and with Avyatar the Kohen: and they following Adoniyahu helped him.


The king put Benayah the son of Yehoiada in his room over the army; and Tzadok the Kohen did the king put in the room of Avyatar.


Cry aloud with your voice, daughter of Gallim! Listen, Layshah! You poor `Anatot!


The words of Yirmeyahu the son of Chilkiyah, of the Kohanim who were in `Anatot in the land of Binyamin:


Whoever gives one of these little ones just a cup of cold water to drink in the name of a talmid, most certainly I tell you he will in no way lose his reward.*


But you are those who have continued with me in my trials.


Did you suffer so many things in vain, if it is indeed in vain?


`Anatot with its suburbs, and `Almon with its suburbs; four cities.


You shall see the affliction of [my] habitation, in all the wealth which [God] shall give Yisra'el; and there shall not be an old man in your house forever.


This thing isn't good that you have done. As the LORD lives, you are worthy to die, because you have not kept watch over your lord, the LORD's anointed. Now see where the king's spear is, and the jar of water that was at his head.
