David comforted Bat-Sheva his wife, and went in to her, and lay with her: and she bore a son, and he called his name Shlomo. The LORD loved him;


There came a messenger to David, saying, The hearts of the men of Yisra'el are after Avshalom.


In this manner Avshalom did to all Yisra'el who came to the king for judgment: so Avshalom stole the hearts of the men of Yisra'el.


Chushai said to Avshalom, No; but whom the LORD, and this people, and all the men of Yisra'el have chosen, his will I be, and with him will I abide.


and his second, Chileab, of Avigayil the wife of Naval the Karmelite; and the third, Avshalom the son of Ma`akhah the daughter of Talmai king of Geshur;


and the fourth, Adoniyahu the son of Chaggit; and the fifth, Shefatyah the son of Avital;


When your days are fulfilled, and you shall sleep with your fathers, I will set up your seed after you, who shall proceed out of your bowels, and I will establish his kingdom.


For he is gone down this day, and has slain oxen and fatlings and sheep in abundance, and has called all the king's sons, and the captains of the army, and Avyatar the Kohen; and behold, they are eating and drinking before him, and say, [Long] live king Adoniyahu.


So Tzadok the Kohen, and Natan the prophet, and Benayah the son of Yehoiada, and the Kereti and the Peleti, went down, and caused Shlomo to ride on king David's mule, and brought him to Gichon.


Tzadok the Kohen took the horn of oil out of the Tent, and anointed Shlomo. They blew the shofar; and all the people said, [Long] live king Shlomo.


Then Adoniyahu the son of Chaggit exalted himself, saying, I will be king: and he prepared him chariots and horsemen, and fifty men to run before him.


He said moreover, I have somewhat to tell you. She said, Say on.


Now I ask one petition of you; don't deny me. She said to him, Say on.


King Shlomo answered his mother, Why do you ask Avishag the Shunammite for Adoniyahu? ask for him the kingdom also; for he is my elder brother; even for him, and for Avyatar the Kohen, and for Yo'av the son of Tzeru'yah.


There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the LORD.


he reveals the deep and secret things; he knows what is in the darkness, and the light dwells with him.
