She said, As the LORD your God lives, I don't have a cake, but a handful of meal in the jar, and a little oil in the jar: and behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and bake it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.


The word of the LORD came to him, saying,


It happened after many days, that the word of the LORD came to Eliyahu, in the third year, saying, Go, show yourself to Ach'av; and I will send rain on the earth.


As the LORD your God lives, there is no nation or kingdom, where my lord has not sent to seek you: and when they said, He is not here, he took an oath of the kingdom and nation, that they didn't find you.


Eliyahu said, As the LORD of Armies lives, before whom I stand, I will surely show myself to him today.


Mikhayahu said, As the LORD lives, what the LORD says to me, that will I speak.


When the sky is shut up, and there is no rain, because they have sinned against you; if they pray toward this place, and confess your name, and turn from their sin, when you do afflict them:


But the angel of the LORD said to Eliyahu the Tishbi, Arise, go up to meet the messengers of the king of Shomron, and tell them, Is it because there is no God in Yisra'el, that you go to inquire of Ba`al-Zevuv, the god of `Ekron?


Elisha said, As the LORD of Armies lives, before whom I stand, surely, were it not that I regard the presence of Yehoshafat the king of Yehudah, I would not look toward you, nor see you.


Elisha came again to Gilgal. There was a dearth in the land; and the sons of the prophets were sitting before him; and he said to his servant, Set on the great pot, and boil stew for the sons of the prophets.


But he said, As the LORD lives, before whom I stand, I will receive none. He urged him to take it; but he refused.


But Gechazi the servant of Elisha the man of God, said, Behold, my master has spared this Na`aman the Syrian, in not receiving at his hands that which he brought: as the LORD lives, I will run after him, and take somewhat of him.


There came a writing to him from Eliyahu the prophet, saying, Thus says the LORD, the God of David your father, Because you have not walked in the ways of Yehoshafat your father, nor in the ways of Asa king of Yehudah,


When the sky is shut up, and there is no rain, because they have sinned against you; if they pray toward this place, and confess your name, and turn from their sin, when you do afflict them:


Behold, he withholds the waters, and they dry up. Again, he sends them out, and they overturn the earth.


Lift up your eyes round about, and see: all these gather themselves together, and come to you. As I live, says the LORD, you shall surely clothe you with them all as with an ornament, and gird yourself with them, like a bride.


I will lay it a wasteland. It won't be pruned nor hoed, but it will grow briers and thorns. I will also command the clouds that they rain no rain on it.*


Are there any among the vanities of the nations that can cause rain? or can the sky give showers? Aren't you he, the LORD our God? therefore we will wait for you; for you have made all these things.


Therefore thus says the LORD, If you return, then will I bring you again, that you may stand before me; and if you take forth the precious from the vile, you shall be as my mouth: they shall return to you, but you shall not return to them.


The prophets who have been before me and before you of old prophesied against many countries, and against great kingdoms, of war, and of evil, and of pestilence.


Therefore for your sake the heavens withhold the dew, and the earth withholds its fruit.


If you are willing to receive it, this is Eliyahu, who is to come.


They said, *Some say Yochanan the immerser, some, Eliyahu, and others, Yirmeyahu, or one of the prophets.*


Some of them who stood there, when they heard it, said, *This man is calling Eliyahu.*


The rest said, *Let him be. Let's see whether Eliyahu comes to save him.*


for he taught them with authority, and not like the scribes.


He will go before him in the spirit and power of Eliyahu, 'to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children,' and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.*


The angel answered him, *I am Gavri'el, who stands in the presence of God. I was sent to speak to you, and to bring you this good news.


Therefore be watchful all the time, praying that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will happen, and to stand before the Son of Man.*


Behold, two men were talking with him, who were Moshe and Eliyahu,


It happened, as they were parting from him, that Kefa said to Yeshua, *Master, it is good for us to be here. Let's make three tents: one for you, and one for Moshe, and one for Eliyahu,* not knowing what he said.


When his talmidim, Ya`akov and Yochanan, saw this, they said, *Lord, do you want us to command fire to come down from the sky, and destroy them, just as Eliyahu did?*


They asked him, *What then? Are you Eliyahu?* He said, *I am not.* *Are you the Prophet?* He answered, *No.*


They asked him, *Why then do you immerse, if you are not the Messiah, nor Eliyahu, nor the Prophet?*


For there stood by me this night an angel, belonging to the God whose I am and whom I serve,


God didn't reject his people, which he foreknew. Or don't you know what the Scripture says about Eliyahu? How he pleads with God against Yisra'el:


At that time the LORD set apart the tribe of Levi, to bear the ark of the covenant of the LORD, to stand before the LORD to minister to him, and to bless in his name, to this day.


Eliyahu was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain, and it didn't rain on the earth for three years and six months.


These have the power to shut up the sky, that it may not rain during the days of their prophecy. They have power over the waters, to turn them into blood, and to strike the earth with every plague, as often as they desire.


Then Yiftach gathered together all the men of Gil`ad, and fought with Efrayim; and the men of Gil`ad struck Efrayim, because they said, You are fugitives of Efrayim, you Gil`adi, in the midst of Efrayim, [and] in the midst of Menasheh.
