They traveled from Beit-El. There was still some distance to come to Efrat, and Rachel travailed. She had hard labor.


The matter is not so: but a man of the hill country of Efrayim, Sheva the son of Bikhri by name, has lifted up his hand against the king, even against David; deliver him only, and I will depart from the city. The woman said to Yo'av, Behold, his head shall be thrown to you over the wall.


Therefore the LORD said to Shlomo, Because this is done of you, and you have not kept my covenant and my statutes, which I have commanded you, I will surely tear the kingdom from you, and will give it to your servant.


He was an adversary to Yisra'el all the days of Shlomo, besides the mischief that Chadad [did]: and he abhorred Yisra'el, and reigned over Syria.


The man Yarov`am was a mighty man of valor; and Shlomo saw the young man that he was industrious, and he gave him charge over all the labor of the house of Yosef.


It happened, when Yarov`am the son of Nevat heard of it (for he was yet in Egypt, where he had fled from the presence of king Shlomo, and Yarov`am lived in Egypt,


He will give Yisra'el up because of the sins of Yarov`am, which he has sinned, and with which he has made Yisra'el to sin.


for the sins of Yarov`am which he sinned, and with which he made Yisra'el to sin, because of his provocation with which he provoked the LORD, the God of Yisra'el, to anger.


behold, I will utterly sweep away Ba`sha and his house; and I will make your house like the house of Yarov`am the son of Nevat.


and I will make your house like the house of Yarov`am the son of Nevat, and like the house of Ba`sha the son of Achiyah for the provocation with which you have provoked me to anger, and have made Yisra'el to sin.


But of the children of Yisra'el did Shlomo make no bondservants; but they were the men of war, and his servants, and his princes, and his captains, and rulers of his chariots and of his horsemen.

Yet Yarov`am the son of Nevat, the servant of Shlomo the son of David, rose up, and rebelled against his lord.


Now the rest of the acts of Shlomo, first and last, aren't they written in the history of Natan the prophet, and in the prophecy of Achiyah the Shiloni, and in the visions of `Iddo the seer concerning Yarov`am the son of Nevat?


The Gil`adi took the fords of the Yarden against the Efrayim. It was so, that when [any of] the fugitives of Efrayim said, Let me go over, the men of Gil`ad said to him, Are you an Efratite? If he said, No;


The name of the man was Elimelekh, and the name of his wife Na`omi 1, and the name of his two sons Machlon and Kilyon, Efratites of Beit-Lechem-Yehudah. They came into the country of Mo'av, and continued there.


Now there was a certain man of Ramatayim-Tzofim, of the hill country of Efrayim, and his name was Elkana, the son of Yerocham, the son of Elihu, the son of Tochu, the son of Tzuf, an Efratite:
