So did he for all his foreign wives, who burnt incense and sacrificed to their gods.


Rechav`am the son of Shlomo reigned in Yehudah. Rechav`am was forty-one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Yerushalayim, the city which the LORD had chosen out of all the tribes of Yisra'el, to put his name there: and his mother's name was Na`amah the `Ammonite.


Rechav`am slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David: and his mother's name was Na`amah the `Ammonite. Aviyam his son reigned in his place.


It happened, as if it had been a light thing for him to walk in the sins of Yarov`am the son of Nevat, that he took as wife Izevel the daughter of Etba`al king of the Tzidonim, and went and served Ba`al, and worshiped him.


Shlomo made affinity with Par`oh king of Egypt, and took Par`oh's daughter, and brought her into the city of David, until he had made an end of building his own house, and the house of the LORD, and the wall of Yerushalayim round about.


All these had taken foreign wives; and some of them had wives by whom they had children.


Now when these things were done, the princes drew near to me, saying, The people of Yisra'el, and the Kohanim and the Levites, have not separated themselves from the peoples of the lands, [doing] according to their abominations, even of the Kena`anim, the Chitti, the Perizzi, the Yevusi, the `Ammonim, the Mo`avim, the Egyptians, and the Amori.


For they have taken of their daughters for themselves and for their sons, so that the holy seed have mixed themselves with the peoples of the lands: yes, the hand of the princes and rulers has been chief in this trespass.


and you take of their daughters to your sons, and their daughters play the prostitute after their gods, and make your sons play the prostitute after their gods.


To deliver you from the strange woman, even from the foreigner who flatters with her words;


The mouth of an adulteress is a deep pit: he who is under the LORD's wrath will fall into it.


Your eyes will see strange things, and your mind will imagine confusing things.


Don't give your strength to women, nor your ways to that which destroys kings.


to keep you from the immoral woman, from the flattery of the wayward wife's tongue.


that they may keep you from the strange woman, from the foreigner who flatters with her words.


*'You shall not take a wife to her sister, to be a rival, to uncover her nakedness, while her sister is yet alive.


Neither shall he multiply wives to himself, that his heart not turn away: neither shall he greatly multiply to himself silver and gold.
