The princes of Tzo`an are utterly foolish. The counsel of the wisest counselors of Par`oh has become stupid. How do you say to Par`oh, *I am the son of the wise, the son of ancient kings?*


The spirit of Egypt will fail in its midst. I will destroy its counsel. They will seek the idols, the charmers, those who have familiar spirits, and the wizards.


therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvelous work among this people, even a marvelous work and a wonder; and the wisdom of their wise men will perish, and the understanding of their prudent men will be hidden.*


Who should not fear you, King of the nations? for to you does it appertain; because among all the wise men of the nations, and in all their royal estate, there is none like you.


The wise men are disappointed, they are dismayed and taken: behold, they have rejected the word of the LORD; and what manner of wisdom is in them?


For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, *He has taken the wise in their craftiness.*


We are fools for Messiah's sake, but you are wise in Messiah. We are weak, but you are strong. You have honor, but we have dishonor.


Now these things, brothers, I have in a figure transferred to myself and Apollos for your sakes, that in us you might learn not to think beyond the things which are written, that none of you be puffed up against one another.
