The king made of the almug trees pillars for the house of the LORD, and for the king's house, harps also and psalteries for the singers: there came no such almug trees, nor were seen, to this day.


So they came and called to the porter of the city; and they told them, saying, We came to the camp of the Syrians, and, behold, there was no man there, neither voice of man, but the horses tied, and the donkeys tied, and the tents as they were.


and Obed-Edom with their brothers, sixty-eight; Obed-Edom also the son of Yedutun and Chosah to be doorkeepers;


He appointed certain of the Levites to minister before the ark of the LORD, and to celebrate and to thank and praise the LORD, the God of Yisra'el:


and to stand every morning to thank and praise the LORD, and likewise in the evening;


These are the singers, heads of fathers' [houses] of the Levites, [who lived] in the chambers [and were] free [from other service]; for they were employed in their work day and night.


They came to Yerushalayim with psalteries and harps and trumpets to the house of the LORD.


Also they were over the bearers of burdens, and set forward all who did the work in every manner of service: and of the Levites there were scribes, and officers, and porters.


The singers the sons of Asaf were in their place, according to the mitzvah of David, and Asaf, and Heman, and Yedutun the king's seer; and the porters were at every gate: they didn't need to depart from their service; for their brothers the Levites prepared for them.


He appointed, according to the ordinance of David his father, the divisions of the Kohanim to their service, and the Levites to their offices, to praise, and to minister before the Kohanim, as the duty of every day required; the doorkeepers also by their divisions at every gate: for so had David the man of God commanded.


There went up some of the children of Yisra'el, and of the Kohanim, and the Levites, and the singers, and the porters, and the temple servants 1, to Yerushalayim, in the seventh year of Artachshasta the king.


So the Kohanim, and the Levites, and the porters, and the singers, and some of the people, and the temple servants 1, and all Yisra'el, lived in their cities. When the seventh month was come, the children of Yisra'el were in their cities.


Those who sing as well as those who dance say, *All my springs are in you.*


Your holy cities are become a wilderness, Tziyon is become a wilderness, Yerushalayim a desolation.


who strum on the strings of a harp; who invent for themselves instruments of music, like David;
