In all places in which I have walked with all the children of Yisra'el, spoke I a word with any of the tribes of Yisra'el, whom I commanded to be shepherd of my people Yisra'el, saying, Why have you not built me a house of cedar?


Since the day that I brought forth my people Yisra'el out of Egypt, I chose no city out of all the tribes of Yisra'el to build a house, that my name might be there; but I chose David to be over my people Yisra'el.


In times past, even when Sha'ul was king, it was you who led out and brought in Yisra'el: and the LORD your God said to you, You shall be shepherd of my people Yisra'el, and you shall be prince over my people Yisra'el.


Now therefore thus shall you tell my servant David, Thus says the LORD of Armies, I took you from the sheep pen, from following the sheep, that you should be prince over my people Yisra'el:


I will set up shepherds over them, who shall feed them; and they shall fear no more, nor be dismayed, neither shall any be lacking, says the LORD.


Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Yisra'el, prophesy, and tell them, even to the shepherds, Thus says the Lord GOD: Woe to the shepherds of Yisra'el who feed themselves! Shouldn't the shepherds feed the sheep?


He shall stand, and shall shepherd in the strength of the LORD, in the majesty of the name of the LORD his God: and they will live, for then he will be great to the ends of the earth.


'You Beit-Lechem, land of Yehudah, are in no way least among the princes of Yehudah: for out of you shall come forth a governor, who shall shepherd my people, Yisra'el.'*


After these things he gave them judges until Shemu'el the prophet.


What agreement has a temple of God with idols? For you are a temple of the living God. Even as God said, *I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they will be my people.*


for the LORD your God walks in the midst of your camp, to deliver you, and to give up your enemies before you; therefore shall your camp be holy, that he may not see an unclean thing in you, and turn away from you.

The LORD sent Yerubba`al, and Bedan, and Yiftach, and Shemu'el, and delivered you out of the hand of your enemies on every side; and you lived in safety.
