“But now, O God, what can we say after all that has happened? We have again disobeyed the commands


You made us run from our enemies, and they took for themselves what was ours.


You have made his weapons useless and let him be defeated in battle.


I will climb my watchtower and wait to see what the Lord will tell me to say and what answer he will give to my complaint.


And Joshua said, “Sovereign Lord! Why did you bring us across the Jordan at all? To turn us over to the Amorites? To destroy us? Why didn't we just stay on the other side of the Jordan?


The Canaanites and everyone else in the country will hear about it. They will surround us and kill every one of us! And then what will you do to protect your honor?”


When the survivors came back to camp, the leaders of Israel said, “Why did the Lord let the Philistines defeat us today? Let's go and bring the Lord's Covenant Box from Shiloh, so that he will go with us and save us from our enemies.”
