A great number of people gathered in Jerusalem in the second month to celebrate the Festival of Unleavened Bread.


In addition, many of those who had come from the tribes of Ephraim, Manasseh, Issachar, and Zebulun had not performed the ritual of purification, and so they were observing Passover improperly. King Hezekiah offered this prayer for them:


you are permitted to observe it one month later instead, on the evening of the fourteenth day of the second month. Celebrate it with unleavened bread and bitter herbs.


leave your gift there in front of the altar, go at once and make peace with your brother, and then come back and offer your gift to God.


The time for the Passover Festival was near, and many people went up from the country to Jerusalem to perform the ritual of purification before the festival.


So then, you should each examine yourself first, and then eat the bread and drink from the cup.
