Abram bowed down with his face touching the ground, and God said,


When the people saw this, they threw themselves on the ground and exclaimed, “The Lord is God; the Lord alone is God!”


David saw the angel standing in midair, holding his sword in his hand, ready to destroy Jerusalem. Then David and the leaders of the people—all of whom were wearing sackcloth—bowed low, with their faces touching the ground.


While the killing was going on, I was there alone. I threw myself face downward on the ground and shouted, “Sovereign Lord, are you so angry with Jerusalem that you are going to kill everyone left in Israel?”


When I heard his voice, I fell to the ground unconscious and lay there face downward.


Suddenly the Lord sent a fire, and it consumed the burnt offering and the fat parts on the altar. When the people saw it, they all shouted and bowed down with their faces to the ground.


And Joshua son of Nun and Caleb son of Jephunneh, two of the spies, tore their clothes in sorrow


But Moses and Aaron bowed down with their faces to the ground and said, “O God, you are the source of all life. When one of us sins, do you become angry with the whole community?”


When Moses heard this, he threw himself on the ground and prayed.


“Move back from these people, and I will destroy them on the spot!” The two of them bowed down with their faces to the ground,


The Lord said to Moses, “Put Aaron's stick back in front of the Covenant Box. It is to be kept as a warning to the rebel Israelites that they will die unless their complaining stops.”


Moses and Aaron moved away from the people and stood at the entrance of the Tent. They bowed down with their faces to the ground, and the dazzling light of the Lord's presence appeared to them.


He went a little farther on, threw himself face downward on the ground, and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, take this cup of suffering from me! Yet not what I want, but what you want.”


“Neither,” the man answered. “I am here as the commander of the Lord's army.” Joshua threw himself on the ground in worship and said, “I am your servant, sir. What do you want me to do?”


The Lord said to Joshua, “Get up! Why are you lying on the ground like this?


the twenty-four elders fall down before the one who sits on the throne, and worship him who lives forever and ever. They throw their crowns down in front of the throne and say,


The four living creatures answered, “Amen!” And the elders fell down and worshiped.


All the angels stood around the throne, the elders, and the four living creatures. Then they threw themselves face downward in front of the throne and worshiped God,
