These five kings had formed an alliance and joined forces in Siddim Valley, which is now the Dead Sea.

King Benhadad agreed to Asa's proposal and sent his commanding officers and their armies to attack the cities of Israel. They captured Ijon, Dan, Abel Beth Maacah, the area near Lake Galilee, and the whole territory of Naphtali.


I will let the cities that defend the border of Moab be attacked, including even the finest cities—Beth Jeshimoth, Baal Meon, and Kiriathaim.

On the west their territory extended to the Jordan River, from Lake Galilee in the north down to the Dead Sea in the south and to the foot of Mount Pisgah on the east.


It also included all the region east of the Jordan River as far south as the Dead Sea and east to the foot of Mount Pisgah.

This southern border ran from the south end of the Dead Sea,


The eastern border was the Dead Sea, all the way up to the inlet where the Jordan empties into it. The northern border began there,


the water stopped flowing and piled up, far upstream at Adam, the city beside Zarethan. The flow downstream to the Dead Sea was completely cut off, and the people were able to cross over near Jericho.
