Then all the men of Juda and Benjamin gathered themselves together to Jerusalem within three days, in the ninth month, the twentieth day of the month. And all the people sat in the street of the house of God, trembling, because of the sin and the rain.


And there went up some of the children of Israel, and of the children of the priests, and of the children of the Levites, and of the singing men, and of the porters, and of the Nathinites to Jerusalem, in the seventh year of Artaxerxes the king.


And the subscribers were Nehemias, Athersatha the son of Hacherlai, and Sedecias,


And it came to pass in the month of Nisan, in the twentieth year of Artaxerxes the king, that wine was before him, and I took up the wine, and gave it to the king. And I was as one languishing away before his face.


And from the day, in which the king commanded me to be governor in the land of Juda, from the twentieth year even to the two and thirtieth year of Artaxerxes the king, for twelve years, I and my brethren did not eat the yearly allowance that was due to the governors.


And it came to pass in the fourth year of king Darius, that the word of the Lord came to Zacharias, in the fourth day of the ninth month, which is Casleu.
