Moreover also in the time of his distress he increased contempt against the Lord. King Achaz, himself by himself,


Assemble yourselves, and come, and draw near together, ye that are saved of the Gentiles. They have no knowledge that set up the wood of their graven work and pray to a god that cannot save.


They bear him on their shoulders and carry him and set him in his place: and he shall stand and shall not stir out of his place. Yea, when they shall cry also unto him, he shall not hear: he shall not save them from tribulation.


Because my people have forgotten me, sacrificing in vain, and stumbling in their ways, in ancient paths, to walk by them in a way not trodden:


Where are the gods, whom thou hast made thee? Let them arise and deliver thee in the time of thy affliction: for according to the number of thy cities were thy gods, O Juda.


In that you provoke me to wrath with the works of your hands, by sacrificing to other gods in the land of Egypt, into which you are come to dwell there: and that you should perish and be a curse and a reproach to all the nations of the earth?


And he shall say: Where are their gods, in whom they trusted?


Of whose victims they ate the fat, and drank the wine of their drink-offerings. Let them arise and help you, and protect you in your distress.


Go and call upon the gods which you have chosen. Let them deliver you in the time of distress.
