And I will make thee increase, exceedingly: and I will make nations of thee; and kings shall come out of thee.


And God almighty bless thee, and make thee to increase, and multiply thee: that thou mayst be a multitude of people.


And he called the name of the first born Manasses, saying: God hath made me to forget all my labours, and my father's house.


Now when the seven years of the plenty that had been in Egypt were past,


After these things, it was told Joseph that his father was sick: and he set out to go to him, taking his two sons Manasses and Ephraim.


But he stretching forth his right hand, put it upon the head of Ephraim the younger brother; and the left upon the head of Manasses who was the elder, changing his hands.


So thy two sons, who were born to thee in the land of Egypt before I came hither to thee, shall be mine: Ephraim and Manasses shall be reputed to me as Ruben and Simeon.


Joseph is a growing son, a growing son and comely to behold: the daughters run to and fro upon the wall.


After which he told his brethren: God will visit you after my death, and will make you go up out of this land, to the land which he swore to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.


That drink wine in bowls, and anoint themselves with the best ointments: and they are not concerned for the affliction of Joseph.


The sons of Joseph by their kindred, Manasses and Ephraim.


And delivered him out of all his tribulations: and he gave him favour and wisdom in the sight of Pharao, the king of Egypt; and he appointed him governor over Egypt, and over all his house.


But in their place succeeded the children of Joseph divided into two tribes, of Manasses and Ephraim. Neither did the Levites receive other portion of land, but cities to dwell in, and their suburbs to feed their beasts and flocks.


And Manasses and Ephraim the children of Joseph possessed it.


And this lot fell to the tribe of Manasses (for he is the firstborn of Joseph), to Machir the firstborn of Manasses the father of Galaad, who was a warlike man, and had for possession Galaad and Basan.


And it came to pass when the time was come about, Anna conceived and bore a son, and called his name Samuel: because she had asked him of the Lord.
