She called to her the men of her house, and said to them: See, he hath brought in a Hebrew, to abuse us. He came in to me, to lie with me: and when I cried out,


For a proof therefore of her fidelity, she kept the garment, and shewed it to her husband when he returned home:


And when he heard me cry, he left the garment which I held, and fled out.


And when he had seen him, he said: Art thou he that troublest Israel?


But I, as a deaf man, heard not: and as a dumb man not opening his mouth.


My enemies have trodden on me all the day long; for they are many that make war against me.


Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.


Thou shalt not receive the voice of a lie: neither shalt thou join thy hand to bear false witness for a wicked person.


The lip of truth shall be steadfast for ever: but he that is a hasty witness, frameth a lying tongue.


A false witness shall not be unpunished: and he that speaketh lies shall not escape.


A false witness shall not be unpunished: and he that speaketh lies, shall perish.


A deceitful tongue loveth not truth: and a slippery mouth worketh ruin.


Then the high priests rent his garments, saying: He hath blasphemed; what further need have we of witnesses? Behold, now you have heard the blasphemy:
