And they told him, saying: Joseph thy son is living: and he is ruler in all the land of Egypt. Which when Jacob heard, he awaked as it were out of a deep sleep, yet did not believe them.


And Elias took the child, and brought him down from the upper chamber to the house below, and delivered him to his mother, and said to her: Behold, thy son liveth.


And he said: Take it up. And he put out his hand and took it.


The blessing of him that was ready to perish came upon me: and I comforted the heart of the widow.


Who giveth to beasts their food: and to the young ravens that call upon him.


And coming to her, he lifted her up, taking her by the hand; and immediately the fever left her, and she ministered unto them.


And when he came nigh to the gate of the city, behold a dead man was carried out, the only son of his mother; and she was a widow: and a great multitude of the city was with her.


And he that was dead, sat up, and began to speak. And he gave him to his mother.


And they brought the youth alive, and were not a little comforted.


And taking him by the right hand, he lifted him up, and forthwith his feet and soles received strength.


AND in those days, the number of the disciples increasing, there arose a murmuring of the Greeks against the Hebrews, for that their widows were neglected in the daily ministration.


But Ananias answered: Lord, I have heard by many of this man, how much evil he hath done to thy saints in Jerusalem.


And it came to pass that Peter, as he passed through, visiting all, came to the saints who dwelt at Lydda.


Honour widows, that are widows indeed.


But she that is a widow indeed, and desolate, let her trust in God, and continue in supplications and prayers night and day.
