And they rose early in the morning, and the sun being now up, and shining upon the waters, the Moabites saw the waters over against them red, like blood,


And they went into the camp of Israel: but Israel rising up defeated Moab, who fled before them. And they being conquerors went and smote Moab.


For the Lord had made them hear, in the camp of Syria, the noise of chariots, and of horses, and of a very great army. And they said one to another: Behold, the king of Israel hath hired against us the kings of the Hethites, and of the Egyptians; and they are come upon us.


Then Josaphat came, and all the people with him to take away the spoils of the dead. And they found among the dead bodies stuff of various kinds, and garments, and most precious vessels. And they took them for themselves, insomuch that they could not carry all, nor in three days take away the spoils; the booty was so great.


The enemy said: I will pursue and overtake; I will divide the spoils, my soul shall have its fill. I will draw my sword; my hand shall slay them.


And my hand hath found the strength of the people as a nest: and as eggs are gathered, that are left, so have I gathered all the earth. And there was none that moved the wing, or opened the mouth, or made the least noise.


Perhaps he is now dividing the spoils, and the fairest of the women is chosen out for him. Garments of divers colours are given to Sisara for his prey, and furniture of different kinds is heaped together to adorn the necks.
