1 The king’s command and law  went into effect on the thirteenth day of the twelfth month,  the month Adar. On the day when the Jews’ enemies  had hoped to overpower them, just the opposite happened. The Jews overpowered those who hated them.

You have made my enemies retreat before me; I annihilate those who hate me.


Letters were sent by couriers  to each of the royal provinces telling the officials to destroy, kill, and annihilate all the Jewish people #– #young and old, women and children #– #and plunder their possessions on a single day,  the thirteenth day of Adar, the twelfth month.


In the first month, the month of Nisan, in King Ahasuerus’s twelfth year,  the pur  #– #that is, the lot #– #was cast before Haman for each day in each month, and it fell on the twelfth month,  the month Adar.


This would take place on a single day throughout all the provinces of King Ahasuerus, on the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, the month Adar.


For how could I bear to see the disaster that would come on my people?  How could I bear to see the destruction of my relatives? ’


They fought on the thirteenth day of the month of Adar and rested on the fourteenth, and it became a day of feasting and rejoicing.

The Lord will indeed vindicate his people and have compassion on his servants when he sees that their strength is gone and no one is left #– #slave or free.


The nations were angry, but your wrath has come. The time has come for the dead to be judged and to give the reward to your servants the prophets, to the saints, and to those who fear your name, both small and great, and the time has come to destroy those who destroy the earth.
