Joshua 14:6 - Contemporary English Version Interconfessional Edition

6 One day while the Israelites were still camped at Gilgal, Caleb the son of Jephunneh went to talk with Joshua. Caleb belonged to the Kenaz clan, and many other people from the Judah tribe went with Caleb. He told Joshua: You know that back in Kadesh-Barnea the Lord talked to his prophet Moses about you and me.

One day, Jeroboam was standing at the altar in Bethel, ready to make an offering. Suddenly one of God's prophets arrived from Judah and shouted: The Lord sent me with a message about this altar. A child named Josiah will be born into David's family. He will sacrifice on this altar the priests who make offerings here, and human bones will be burned on it.


and rode off to look for the prophet from Judah. The old prophet found him sitting under an oak tree and asked, “Are you the prophet from Judah?” “Yes, I am.”

A man from the town of Baal-Shalishah brought Elisha some freshly cut grain and 20 loaves of bread made from the first barley that was harvested. Elisha said, “Give it to the people so they can eat.”


Some time later the woman said to her husband, “I'm sure the man who comes here so often is a prophet of God.


Elisha stared at him until Hazael was embarrassed, then Elisha began crying.


Some time later Elisha went to the capital city of Damascus to visit King Benhadad of Syria, who was sick. And when Benhadad was told he was there,


Moses, the man of God, was the father of Gershom and Eliezer, and their descendants were considered Levites.

Moses was a prophet, and before he died, he blessed the tribes of Israel by saying:


There has never again been a prophet in Israel like Moses. The Lord spoke face to face with him


And so, Moses the Lord's servant died there in Moab, just as the Lord had said.


Timothy, you belong to God, so keep away from all these evil things. Try your best to please God and to be like him. Be faithful, loving, dependable, and gentle.


The Scriptures train God's servants to do all kinds of good deeds.


And Hebron still belongs to Caleb's descendants, because he was faithful to the Lord God of Israel.


Caleb's nephew Othniel captured Kiriath-Sepher, and Caleb let him marry Achsah.


It was the tenth day of the first month of the year when Israel crossed the Jordan River. They set up camp at Gilgal, which was east of the land controlled by Jericho.
