And the king of Israel answered and said, Tell him, Let not him that girdeth on his armor boast himself as he that putteth it off.


And Jehu the son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him, and said to king Jehoshaphat, Shouldest thou help the wicked, and love them that hate Jehovah? for this thing wrath is upon thee from before Jehovah.


Thou sayest, Lo, thou hast smitten Edom; and thy heart lifteth thee up to boast: abide now at home; why shouldest thou meddle to {\i thy} hurt, that thou shouldest fall, even thou, and Judah with thee?\par


For the wicked boasteth of his heart's desire,\par\tab And the covetous renounceth, {\i yea}, contemneth Jehovah.


Thus were they defiled with their works,\par\tab And played the harlot in their doings.


They that trust in their wealth,\par\tab And boast themselves in the multitude of their riches;


The arrogant shall not stand in thy sight:\par\tab Thou hatest all workers of iniquity.

The haters of Jehovah should submit themselves unto him:\par\tab But their time should endure for ever.


They prate, they speak arrogantly:\par\tab All the workers of iniquity boast themselves.


Let all them be put to shame that serve graven images,\par\tab That boast themselves of idols:\par\tab Worship him, all ye gods.


Thou answeredst them, O Jehovah our God:\par\tab Thou wast a God that forgavest them,\par\tab Though thou tookest vengeance of their doings.


He that deviseth to do evil,\par\tab Men shall call him a mischief-maker.


The north wind bringeth forth rain:\par\tab So doth a backbiting tongue an angry countenance.

Where then is the glorying? It is excluded. By what manner of law? of works? Nay: but by a law of faith.

For I fear, lest by any means, when I come, I should find you not such as I would, and should myself be found of you such as ye would not; lest by any means {\i there should be} strife, jealousy, wraths, factions, backbitings, whisperings, swellings, tumults;


Cursed be he that setteth light by his father or his mother. And all the people shall say, Amen.


and repayeth them that hate him to their face, to destroy them: he will not be slack to him that hateth him, he will repay him to his face.


he that opposeth and exalteth himself against all that is called God or that is worshipped; so that he sitteth in the temple of God, setting himself forth as God.


For men shall be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, haughty, railers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,


For we also once were foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, hating one another.


So the tongue also is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how much wood is kindled by how small a fire!


But now ye glory in your vauntings: all such glorying is evil.


For, uttering great swelling {\i words} of vanity, they entice in the lusts of the flesh, by lasciviousness, those who are verily escaping from them that live in error;


These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their lusts (and their mouth speaketh great swelling {\i words}), showing respect of persons for the sake of advantage.\par
