And in those times there was no peace to him that went out, nor to him that came in; but great vexations were upon all the inhabitants of the lands.


Hast not thou made a hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath, on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.


He hath stripped me of my glory,\par\tab And taken the crown from my head.


Why hast thou broken down its walls,\par\tab So that all they that pass by the way do pluck it?


The Lord hath swallowed up all the habitations of Jacob, and hath not pitied:\par\tab He hath thrown down in his wrath the strongholds of the daughter of Judah;\par\tab He hath brought them down to the ground; he hath profaned the kingdom and the princes thereof.


The Lord is become as an enemy, he hath swallowed up Israel;\par\tab He hath swallowed up all her palaces, he hath destroyed his strongholds;\par\tab And he hath multiplied in the daughter of Judah mourning and lamentation.


And I will pour out mine indignation upon thee; I will blow upon thee with the fire of my wrath; and I will deliver thee into the hand of brutish men, skilful to destroy.
