{\b A Song of Ascents.}\par\par\tab Out of the depths have I cried unto thee, O Jehovah.


For the enemy hath persecuted my soul;\par\tab He hath smitten my life down to the ground:\par\tab He hath made me to dwell in dark places, as those that have been long dead.


He brought me up also out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay;\par\tab And he set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.


Let not the waterflood overwhelm me,\par\tab Neither let the deep swallow me up;\par\tab And let not the pit shut its mouth upon me.


For great is thy lovingkindness toward me;\par\tab And thou hast delivered my soul from the lowest Sheol.


The way of the wicked is as darkness:\par\tab They know not at what they stumble.\par


He hath led me and caused me to walk in darkness, and not in light.


I called upon thy name, O Jehovah, out of the lowest dungeon.


And I said, I am cast out from before thine eyes;\par\tab Yet I will look again toward thy holy temple.


I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me may not abide in the darkness.


For a fire is kindled in mine anger, And burneth unto the lowest Sheol, And devoureth the earth with its increase, And setteth on fire the foundations of the mountains.


wild waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, for whom the blackness of darkness hath been reserved for ever.


And angels that kept not their own principality, but left their proper habitation, he hath kept in everlasting bonds under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.
