In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.


And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days and years:


And they made their father drink wine that night also: and the younger arose, and lay with him; and he knew not when she lay down, nor when she arose.


And Jehovah visited Sarah as he had said, and Jehovah did unto Sarah as he had spoken.


But will God in very deed dwell with men on the earth? behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain thee; how much less this house which I have builded!


How much less man, that is a worm!\par\tab And the son of man, that is a worm!\par


What is man, that thou shouldest magnify him,\par\tab And that thou shouldest set thy mind upon him,


Remember me, O Jehovah, with the favor that thou bearest unto thy people;\par\tab Oh visit me with thy salvation,


To him that by understanding made the heavens;\par\tab For his lovingkindness {\i endureth} for ever:

Jehovah, what is man, that thou takest knowledge of him?\par\tab Or the son of man, that thou makest account of him?


Put not your trust in princes,\par\tab Nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help.


Day unto day uttereth speech,\par\tab And night unto night showeth knowledge.


O ye sons of men, how long shall my glory be turned into dishonor?\par\tab {\i How long} will ye love vanity, and seek after falsehood? {\i Selah


Let thy hand be upon the man of thy right hand,\par\tab Upon the son of man whom thou madest strong for thyself.

And the people believed: and when they heard that Jehovah had visited the children of Israel, and that he had seen their affliction, then they bowed their heads and worshipped.


All the nations are as nothing before him; they are accounted by him as less than nothing, and vanity.\par


I, even I, am he that comforteth you: who art thou, that thou art afraid of man that shall die, and of the son of man that shall be made as grass;
