For he hath oppressed and forsaken the poor;\par\tab He hath violently taken away a house, and he shall not build it up.\par


This is the portion of a wicked man from God,\par\tab And the heritage appointed unto him by God.\par


Surely every man walketh in a vain show;\par\tab Surely they are disquieted in vain:\par\tab He heapeth up {\i riches}, and knoweth not who shall gather them.


But know that Jehovah hath set apart for himself him that is godly:\par\tab Jehovah will hear when I call unto him.


They that trust in their wealth,\par\tab And boast themselves in the multitude of their riches;


Lo, this is the man that made not God his strength,\par\tab But trusted in the abundance of his riches,\par\tab And strengthened himself in his wickedness.


Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him:\par\tab I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.


Wilt thou set thine eyes upon that which is not?\par\tab For {\i riches} certainly make themselves wings,\par\tab Like an eagle that flieth toward heaven.


Because ye have said, We have made a covenant with death, and with Sheol are we at agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us; for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves:


Wherefore thus saith the Holy One of Israel, Because ye despise this word, and trust in oppression and perverseness, and rely thereon;


Behold, the nations are as a drop of a bucket, and are accounted as the small dust of the balance: behold, he taketh up the isles as a very little thing.


All the nations are as nothing before him; they are accounted by him as less than nothing, and vanity.\par


For thou hast trusted in thy wickedness; thou hast said, None seeth me; thy wisdom and thy knowledge, it hath perverted thee, and thou hast said in thy heart, I am, and there is none else besides me.


None sueth in righteousness, and none pleadeth in truth: they trust in vanity, and speak lies; they conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity.


For I, Jehovah, love justice, I hate robbery with iniquity; and I will give them their recompense in truth, and I will make an everlasting covenant with them.


This is thy lot, the portion measured unto thee from me, saith Jehovah; because thou hast forgotten me, and trusted in falsehood.


As the partridge that sitteth on {\i eggs} which she hath not laid, so is he that getteth riches, and not by right; in the midst of his days they shall leave him, and at his end he shall be a fool.\par


And Jesus looked round about, and saith unto his disciples, {\cf6 How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!}


For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil: which some reaching after have been led astray from the faith, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows.\par


Charge them that are rich in this present world, that they be not highminded, nor have their hope set on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;
