My soul is weary of my life;\par\tab I will give free course to my complaint;\par\tab I will speak in the bitterness of my soul.


My friends scoff at me:\par\tab {\i But} mine eye poureth out tears unto God,


Even to-day is my complaint rebellious:\par\tab My stroke is heavier than my groaning.


So am I made to possess months of misery,\par\tab And wearisome nights are appointed to me.


The dead praise not Jehovah,\par\tab Neither any that go down into silence;


Hear, O Jehovah, and have mercy upon me:\par\tab Jehovah, be thou my helper.


Lord, all my desire is before thee;\par\tab And my groaning is not hid from thee.


Hear my prayer, O Jehovah, and give ear unto my cry;\par\tab Hold not thy peace at my tears:\par\tab For I am a stranger with thee,\par\tab A sojourner, as all my fathers were.


My tears have been my food day and night,\par\tab While they continually say unto me, Where is thy God?


I am weary with my crying; my throat is dried:\par\tab Mine eyes fail while I wait for my God.


Shall thy lovingkindness be declared in the grave?\par\tab Or thy faithfulness in Destruction?


Mine eye wasteth away by reason of affliction:\par\tab I have called daily upon thee, O Jehovah;\par\tab I have spread forth my hands unto thee.


For Sheol cannot praise thee, death cannot celebrate thee:\par\tab They that go down into the pit cannot hope for thy truth.


And thou shalt say this word unto them, Let mine eyes run down with tears night and day, and let them not cease; for the virgin daughter of my people is broken with a great breach, with a very grievous wound.


For these things I weep; mine eye, mine eye runneth down with water;\par\tab Because the comforter that should refresh my soul is far from me:\par\tab My children are desolate, because the enemy hath prevailed.


She weepeth sore in the night, and her tears are on her cheeks;\par\tab Among all her lovers she hath none to comfort her:\par\tab All her friends have dealt treacherously with her; they are become her enemies.
