And David lamented with this lamentation over Saul and over Jonathan his son


His heart is established, he shall not be afraid,\par\tab Until he see {\i his desire} upon his adversaries.


For thou meetest him with the blessings of goodness:\par\tab Thou settest a crown of fine gold on his head.


Come, behold the works of Jehovah,\par\tab What desolations he hath made in the earth.


Lead me, O Jehovah, in thy righteousness because of mine enemies;\par\tab Make thy way straight before my face.


He will requite the evil unto mine enemies:\par\tab Destroy thou them in thy truth.


For he hath delivered me out of all trouble;\par\tab And mine eye hath seen {\i my desire} upon mine enemies.\par


Mine enemies would swallow me up all the day long;\par\tab For they are many that fight proudly against me.

Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold,\par\tab And see the reward of the wicked.


Mine eye also hath seen {\i my desire} on mine enemies,\par\tab Mine ears have heard {\i my desire} of the evil-doers that rise up against me.


And it shall come to pass that, before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.


As for me, I have not hastened from being a shepherd after thee; neither have I desired the woeful day; thou knowest: that which came out of my lips was before thy face.


Blessed {\i be} the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort;


For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we that are alive, that are left unto the coming of the Lord, shall in no wise precede them that are fallen asleep.


And the God of all grace, who called you unto his eternal glory in Christ, after that ye have suffered a little while, shall himself perfect, establish, strengthen you.


And David said, As Jehovah liveth, Jehovah will smite him; or his day shall come to die; or he shall go down into battle and perish.
