Whoso privily slandereth his neighbor, him will I destroy:\par\tab Him that hath a high look and a proud heart will I not suffer.


Day and night they go about it upon the walls thereof:\par\tab Iniquity also and mischief are in the midst of it.


My soul is among lions;\par\tab I lie among them that are set on fire,\par\tab Even the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows,\par\tab And their tongue a sharp sword.


But I was like a gentle lamb that is led to the slaughter; and I knew not that they had devised devices against me, {\i saying}, Let us destroy the tree with the fruit thereof, and let us cut him off from the land of the living, that his name may be no more remembered.


For I have heard the defaming of many, terror on every side. Denounce, and we will denounce him, {\i say} all my familiar friends, they that watch for my fall; peradventure he will be persuaded, and we shall prevail against him, and we shall take our revenge on him.


Go not forth into the field, nor walk by the way; for the sword of the enemy, {\i and} terror, are on every side.
