And David came to his house at Jerusalem; and the king took the ten women his concubines, whom he had left to keep the house, and put them in ward, and provided them with sustenance, but went not in unto them. So they were shut up unto the day of their death, living in widowhood.


And David built there an altar unto Jehovah, and offered burnt-offerings and peace-offerings. So Jehovah was entreated for the land, and the plague was stayed from Israel.


And Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar-trees, and carpenters, and masons; and they built David a house.


Then David returned to bless his household. And Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David, and said, How glorious was the king of Israel to-day, who uncovered himself to-day in the eyes of the handmaids of his servants, as one of the vain fellows shamelessly uncovereth himself!


that the king said unto Nathan the prophet, See now, I dwell in a house of cedar, but the ark of God dwelleth within curtains.


And Solomon offered for the sacrifice of peace-offerings, which he offered unto Jehovah, two and twenty thousand oxen, and a hundred and twenty thousand sheep. So the king and all the children of Israel dedicated the house of Jehovah.


But Levi and Benjamin counted he not among them; for the king's word was abominable to Joab.


Lest mine enemy say, I have prevailed against him;\par\tab {\i Lest} mine adversaries rejoice when I am moved.


Grant not, O Jehovah, the desires of the wicked;\par\tab Further not his evil device, {\i lest} they exalt themselves. {\i Selah

O my God, in thee have I trusted,\par\tab Let me not be put to shame;\par\tab Let not mine enemies triumph over me.


And now shall my head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me;\par\tab And I will offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy;\par\tab I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto Jehovah.\par


Save thy people, and bless thine inheritance:\par\tab Be their shepherd also, and bear them up for ever.\par


Let not them that are mine enemies wrongfully rejoice over me;\par\tab Neither let them wink with the eye that hate me without a cause.


By this I know that thou delightest in me,\par\tab Because mine enemy doth not triumph over me.


I cried unto him with my mouth,\par\tab And he was extolled with my tongue.


Wherefore should the nations say, Where is their God?\par\tab Let the avenging of the blood of thy servants which is shed Be known among the nations in our sight.


We are become a reproach to our neighbors,\par\tab A scoffing and derision to them that are round about us.


All that pass by clap their hands at thee;\par\tab They hiss and wag their head at the daughter of Jerusalem, {\i saying},\par\tab Is this the city that men called\par\tab The perfection of beauty, The joy of the whole earth?


Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and extol and honor the King of heaven; for all his works are truth, and his ways justice; and those that walk in pride he is able to abase.\par


And the officers shall speak unto the people, saying, What man is there that hath built a new house, and hath not dedicated it? let him go and return to his house, lest he die in the battle, and another man dedicate it.
