Thus the children of Israel were brought under at that time, and the children of Judah prevailed, because they relied upon Jehovah, the God of their fathers.


But I have trusted in thy lovingkindness;\par\tab My heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.


Attend unto my cry;\par\tab For I am brought very low:\par\tab Deliver me from my persecutors;\par\tab For they are stronger than I.


Jehovah is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer;\par\tab My God, my rock, in whom I will take refuge;\par\tab My shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower.


{\b For the Chief Musician; set to Aijeleth hash-Shahar. A Psalm of David.}\par\par\tab My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?\par\tab {\i Why art thou so} far from helping me, {\i and from} the words of my groaning?


They cried unto thee, and were delivered:\par\tab They trusted in thee, and were not put to shame.


Commit {\i thyself} unto Jehovah; let him deliver him:\par\tab Let him rescue him, seeing he delighteth in him.

My times are in thy hand:\par\tab Deliver me from the hand of mine enemies, and from them that persecute me.


Bow down thine ear unto me; deliver me speedily:\par\tab Be thou to me a strong rock,\par\tab A house of defence to save me.


Oh taste and see that Jehovah is good:\par\tab Blessed is the man that taketh refuge in him.


And Jehovah helpeth them, and rescueth them;\par\tab He rescueth them from the wicked, and saveth them,\par\tab Because they have taken refuge in him.\par


By this I know that thou delightest in me,\par\tab Because mine enemy doth not triumph over me.

I will say of Jehovah, He is my refuge and my fortress;\par\tab My God, in whom I trust.


Jehovah, how long shall the wicked,\par\tab How long shall the wicked triumph?


Thou wilt keep {\i him} in perfect peace, {\i whose} mind {\i is} stayed {\i on thee}; because he trusteth in thee.


therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner-{\i stone} of sure foundation: he that believeth shall not be in haste.


Thus shall ye speak to Hezekiah king of Judah, saying, Let not thy God in whom thou trustest deceive thee, saying, Jerusalem shall not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.


Now therefore, O Jehovah our God, save us from his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that thou art Jehovah, even thou only.\par


For I will defend this city to save it, for mine own sake, and for my servant David's sake.\par


Thou shalt winnow them, and the wind shall carry them away, and the whirlwind shall scatter them; and thou shalt rejoice in Jehovah, thou shalt glory in the Holy One of Israel.\par


And kings shall be thy nursing fathers, and their queens thy nursing mothers: they shall bow down to thee with their faces to the earth, and lick the dust of thy feet; and thou shalt know that I am Jehovah; and they that wait for me shall not be put to shame.\par


Let them be put to shame that persecute me, but let not me be put to shame; let them be dismayed, but let not me be dismayed; bring upon them the day of evil, and destroy them with double destruction.\par


For the scripture saith, {\b Whosoever believeth on him shall not be put to shame.}


and hope putteth not to shame; because the love of God hath been shed abroad in our hearts through the Holy Spirit which was given unto us.


Because it is contained in scripture,\par\tab {\b Behold, I lay in Zion a chief corner stone, elect, precious:\par\tab And he that believeth on him shall not be put to shame.}
