In the pride of the wicked the poor is hotly pursued;\par\tab Let them be taken in the devices that they have conceived.


Let his posterity be cut off;\par\tab In the generation following let their name be blotted out.


Why do the nations rage,\par\tab And the peoples meditate a vain thing?


For I have heard the defaming of many,\par\tab Terror on every side:\par\tab While they took counsel together against me\par\tab They devised to take away my life.


For they speak not peace;\par\tab But they devise deceitful words against them that are quiet in the land.


They have said,\par\tab Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation;\par\tab That the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.


And he said unto me, Son of man, these are the men that devise iniquity, and that give wicked counsel in this city;


Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the Wise-men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the male children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the borders thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had exactly learned of the Wise-men.


And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, Go and search out exactly concerning the young child; and when ye have found {\i him}, bring me word, that I also may come and worship him.


And when they sought to lay hold on him, they feared the multitudes, because they took him for a prophet.\par
