Now therefore, our God, the great, the mighty, and the terrible God, who keepest covenant and lovingkindness, let not all the travail seem little before thee, that hath come upon us, on our kings, on our princes, and on our priests, and on our prophets, and on our fathers, and on all thy people, since the time of the kings of Assyria unto this day.


My soul is continually in my hand;\par\tab Yet do I not forget thy law.


I am small and despised;\par\tab {\i Yet} do I not forget thy precepts.


Consider how I love thy precepts:\par\tab Quicken me, O Jehovah, according to thy lovingkindness.


I will delight myself in thy statutes:\par\tab I will not forget thy word.\par


I have gone astray like a lost sheep; seek thy servant;\par\tab For I do not forget thy commandments.


Thy commandments make me wiser than mine enemies;\par\tab For they are ever with me.


Consider mine enemies, for they are many;\par\tab And they hate me with cruel hatred.


Have mercy upon me, O Jehovah;\par\tab Behold my affliction {\i which I suffer} of them that hate me,\par\tab Thou that liftest me up from the gates of death;


My son, forget not my law;\par\tab But let thy heart keep my commandments:


See, O Jehovah, and behold to whom thou hast done thus!\par\tab Shall the women eat their fruit, the children that are dandled in the hands?\par\tab Shall the priest and the prophet be slain in the sanctuary of the Lord?


Remember, O Jehovah, what is come upon us:\par\tab Behold, and see our reproach.
