He believeth not that he shall return out of darkness,\par\tab And he is waited for of the sword.


He shall not depart out of darkness;\par\tab The flame shall dry up his branches,\par\tab And by the breath of {\i God's} mouth shall he go away.


He hath walled up my way that I cannot pass,\par\tab And hath set darkness in my paths.


Let darkness and the shadow of death claim it for their own;\par\tab Let a cloud dwell upon it;\par\tab Let all that maketh black the day terrify it.


To bring back his soul from the pit,\par\tab That he may be enlightened with the light of the living.


And if they be bound in fetters,\par\tab And be taken in the cords of afflictions;


To hear the sighing of the prisoner;\par\tab To loose those that are appointed to death;


Such as sat in darkness and in the shadow of death,\par\tab Being bound in affliction and iron,


O Jehovah, truly I am thy servant:\par\tab I am thy servant, the son of thy handmaid;\par\tab Thou hast loosed my bonds.


Who executeth justice for the oppressed;\par\tab Who giveth food to the hungry.\par\tab Jehovah looseth the prisoners;


God setteth the solitary in families:\par\tab He bringeth out the prisoners into prosperity;\par\tab But the rebellious dwell in a parched land.\par


And I will bring the blind by a way that they know not; in paths that they know not will I lead them; I will make darkness light before them, and crooked places straight. These things will I do, and I will not forsake them.


saying to them that are bound, Go forth; to them that are in darkness, Show yourselves. They shall feed in the ways, and on all bare heights shall be their pasture.


The Spirit of the Lord Jehovah is upon me; because Jehovah hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening {\i of the prison} to them that are bound;


And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan had bound, lo, {\i these} eighteen years, to have been loosed from this bond on the day of the sabbath?}


But an angel of the Lord by night opened the prison doors, and brought them out, and said,


And there came one and told them, Behold, the men whom ye put in the prison are in the temple standing and teaching the people.


for ye were once darkness, but are now light in the Lord: walk as children of light


But ye are an elect race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for {\i God's} own possession, that ye may show forth the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
