And he answered, I have not troubled Israel; but thou, and thy father's house, in that ye have forsaken the commandments of Jehovah, and thou hast followed the Baalim.


but when {\i the matter} came before the king, he commanded by letters that his wicked device, which he had devised against the Jews, should return upon his own head, and that he and his sons should be hanged on the gallows.\par


For he is cast into a net by his own feet,\par\tab And he walketh upon the toils.


For innumerable evils have compassed me about;\par\tab Mine iniquities have overtaken me, so that I am not able to look up;\par\tab They are more than the hairs of my head;\par\tab And my heart hath failed me.


The nations are sunk down in the pit that they made:\par\tab In the net which they hid is their own foot taken.


The wicked shall be turned back unto Sheol,\par\tab Even all the nations that forget God.


And these lay wait for their own blood;\par\tab They lurk privily for their own lives.


The integrity of the upright shall guide them;\par\tab But the perverseness of the treacherous shall destroy them.


The righteousness of the perfect shall direct his way;\par\tab But the wicked shall fall by his own wickedness.


The righteousness of the upright shall deliver them;\par\tab But the treacherous shall be taken in their own iniquity.


A man shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth;\par\tab And the doings of a man's hands shall be rendered unto him.


The wicked is thrust down in his evil-doing;\par\tab But the righteous hath a refuge in his death.


A fool's mouth is his destruction,\par\tab And his lips are the snare of his soul.


If thou sayest, Behold, we knew not this;\par\tab Doth not he that weigheth the hearts consider it?\par\tab And he that keepeth thy soul, doth not he know it?\par\tab And shall not he render to every man according to his work?


Whoso diggeth a pit shall fall therein;\par\tab And he that rolleth a stone, it shall return upon him.


And I find more bitter than death the woman whose heart is snares and nets, {\i and} whose hands are bands: whoso pleaseth God shall escape from her; but the sinner shall be taken by her.


Thine own wickedness shall correct thee, and thy backslidings shall reprove thee: know therefore and see that it is an evil thing and a bitter, that thou hast forsaken Jehovah thy God, and that my fear is not in thee, saith the Lord, Jehovah of hosts.\par


The yoke of my transgressions is bound by his hand;\par\tab They are knit together, they are come up upon my neck; he hath made my strength to fail:\par\tab The Lord hath delivered me into their hands, against whom I am not able to stand.


For the day of Jehovah is near upon all the nations: as thou hast done, it shall be done unto thee; thy dealing shall return upon thine own head.


But if ye will not do so, behold, ye have sinned against Jehovah; and be sure your sin will find you out.


{\i Let} marriage {\i be} had in honor among all, and {\i let} the bed {\i be} undefiled: for fornicators and adulterers God will judge.


And the men of Israel turned, and the men of Benjamin were dismayed; for they saw that evil was come upon them.


and all the wickedness of the men of Shechem did God requite upon their heads: and upon them came the curse of Jotham the son of Jerubbaal.
