If I have withheld the poor from {\i their} desire,\par\tab Or have caused the eyes of the widow to fail,


If I have lifted up my hand against the fatherless,\par\tab Because I saw my help in the gate:


neither shalt thou favor a poor man in his cause.


Thou shalt not wrest the justice due to thy poor in his cause.


The violence of the wicked shall sweep them away,\par\tab Because they refuse to do justice.


He that oppresseth the poor to increase his {\i gain},\par\tab {\i And} he that giveth to the rich, {\i shall come} only to want.\par


to turn aside the needy from justice, and to rob the poor of my people of their right, that widows may be their spoil, and that they may make the fatherless their prey!


The people of the land have used oppression, and exercised robbery; yea, they have vexed the poor and needy, and have oppressed the sojourner wrongfully.
